Palau is a diver’s paradise, and the Ngemelis region—home to the world-famous Blue Corner—is its crown jewel. Beyond this legendary drift dive, the area gathers more than ten classic dive sites: shark-filled walls, mysterious caves, manta cleaning stations, and vibrant coral gardens. Each dive here is a new story, a mix of adrenaline, awe, and connection with nature.

Let’s dive into the highlights:

Blue Hole

Depth: 20–30m+ | Visibility: 15–20m+ | Current: Minimal | Level: AOW + Nitrox
Four natural chimneys on the reef top lead into a vast cathedral-like chamber at ~20m. Sunbeams filter dramatically through the openings, creating “God Rays” perfect for wide-angle shots. Lionfish, jacks, and sometimes turtles wander in. The exit leads to a breathtaking arch along the wall.
Tip: Bring Nitrox and a flashlight; monitor your bottom time.

Inside thehole

Depth: 30m+ | Level: Cave specialty required
A dark, enclosed chamber branching from Blue Hole. Known for turtle skeletons and ethereal light beams guiding divers back to the exit—nicknamed the “Light of Life.” Strictly for advanced/cave divers only.

Monitor nitrogen narcosis and no-decompression limits. Flashlights are required. Entry without a cave diving certification or instructor supervision is strictly prohibited.

Blue Corner (Drift with Reef Hooks)

Depth: 20–30m+ | Visibility: 15–30m+ | Current: Mild to strong | Level: AOW + Nitrox
One of the Top 10 dive sites in the world. Here, your reef hook is your best friend—anchoring you to watch shark action, barracuda tornadoes, red snappers, eagle rays, and turtles swirl in the currents. Napoleon wrasse often come close, manta rays sometimes glide by, and during peak seasons, you might even encounter whale sharks or hammerheads.
Tip: Respect reef etiquette—never cut across another diver’s line.

German Channel

Depth: 15–25m | Visibility: 8–25m | Current: Mild | Level: OW
Palau’s manta hotspot (Nov–Mar). Graceful mantas gather here at cleaning stations, circling slowly as cleaner wrasse attend them. Even without mantas, the site is alive with sharks, turtles, wrasse, and large schools of fish.
Tip: Keep a respectful distance—never chase or touch mantas.

Virgin BlueHole

Depth: Max 32m | Visibility: 15–30m | Current: None | Level: AOW + Nitrox
Less famous than its neighbor Blue Hole, but equally stunning. A free-fall descent through a vertical shaft opens into a long, dreamlike tunnel. Sharks sometimes cruise the passage. The glowing blue exit is one of Palau’s most photogenic scenes.

Turtle Wall- good for check dive

Depth: 10–20m+ | Level: OW/DSD friendly
As the name suggests—sea turtles everywhere. Gentle currents, soft corals, and easy terrain make this site perfect for beginners or relaxed dives.

New Drop-Off (Drift with Reef Hooks)

Depth: 15–30m+ | Visibility: 20–50m+ | Current: Moderate to strong | Level: AOW + Nitrox
Another drift-diving spectacle. Reef hooks secure you as schools of jacks, parrotfish, and sharks glide past. In late fall, rare encounters with whale sharks or hammerheads are possible.

Watch your no-deco time, follow guide instructions with reef hooks, respect dive etiquette, and avoid crossing other teams. Nitrox recommended.

Dexter WalI

Depth: 10–20m | Level: OW/DSD friendly
Named after a legendary local guide, this wall is famous for its turtles—sometimes 20+ in a single dive. Yellow snapper spawning aggregations are also a seasonal highlight.
Respect marine life. Disturbing, chasing, or touching sea turtles is strictly prohibited.

Big Drop Off

Depth: 15–50m+ | Level: All levels
One of the world’s Seven Underwater Wonders. A dramatic 300m vertical wall covered in gorgonians, soft corals, and dense fish life. Ideal for wide-angle photography and drift dives.

Respect marine life. Disturbing, chasing, or touching sea turtles is strictly prohibited.

 Fairyland (Coral Garden)

Depth: 6–40m+ | Visibility: 20–50m+ | Level: OW/DSD friendly
Shallow coral gardens bursting with hard and soft corals, reef fish, turtles, and bumphead parrotfish. Great for check dives or beginners.

German Wall

Visibility: 5–30m | Level: OW/DSD friendly
A colorful stretch between German Channel and Big Drop-Off, featuring vibrant coral slopes and frequent visits from sharks, wrasse, and turtles.
